The 2007 Fraternal Order of Police National Conference in Louisville, KY concluded on Aug. 16 after a four-day run in the Falls City. Special Olympics Kentucky along with the Law Enforcement Torch Run was engaged throughout the conference raising awareness and funds for athletes here in Kentucky and around the world. During the conference Kentucky hosted a serious of activities including a raffle, run/walk, and a presentation to the delegates all together raising nearly $4,000.00 for Special Olympics Kentucky.
During the conference Kentucky Torch Run Members tirelessly worked the exhibit booth passing out information about how to get involved in their state. LETR members also sold raffle tickets for the Stainless Steel Broilmaster Grill compliments of our great friends at Texas Roadhouse. The drawing for the grill was held at the Deputy Sheriff’s Lodge 25 “Irish Night” on Wednesday, August 15 th and was won by Doug Chambers a police officer from Mary Esther, Florida.
Special Olympics staff, athletes, and family members participated on Tuesday morning to help with the Law Enforcement Torch Run's presentation before the entire delegation. The presentation was led by Ed Buns, National FOP Torch Run Representative, and Dennis Alldridge, CEO of Special Olympics Wisconsin and VIce President of the International Torch Run Council.

The 2007 FOP National Conference 2nd Street Bridge Run/Walk was also a tremendous success drawing nearly 75 participants. Starting and ending on the corner of Main and 5 th in front of the Belvedere runners/walkers traversed to 2nd Street where they crossed over to Indiana being cheered on by fellow officers on the Indiana border. The run was approximately 2.3 miles and was conducted only through the help of Louisville Metro Officers and Traffic Units. On behalf of Special Olympics Kentucky and the athletes you support thank you for all you continue to do.
