The Torch Award is presented to any federal, state or local law enforcement agency that raises a minimum of $2,500 for Special Olympics last year through Torch Run activities. Agencies are presented with a Torch Award plaque in the first year that they qualify and receive a plate for the Torch Award plaque each year they qualify thereafter.
Torch Awards are presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run staff with full notification of the local media so that, if all goes well, an organization's commitment to Special Olympics athletes will not go unnoticed.
The Torch Award gives law enforcement organizations a chance to proudly display the plaque in their offices or at another city or county office, so that their communities can see how active an agency's officers in their area.
